I just got a new car. What should I put in it? (emergency kit wise)?
Hello there! Im an ASE certified Tech. When my customers ask me this I usually reply that "it depends".
Here is a list of things that you can pick and choose from depending on your own driving conditions.
*If you live in a really cold region then pack a cheap "space blanket" one of those things that look like foil but reflect exceptional amounts of heat and keep you really warm. Otherwise a regular house blanket will do you fine.
*A quart of oil
*A quart of Transmission fluid
*A gallon of water (for the radiator in a pinch)
*A small gas can (1 Gallon should get you moving again).
*A flashlight (handy for changing a tire or making yourself visible to help).
*A couple of road-flares
*A roll of Duct tape ( you wouldnt believe all the uses of this).
*One of those nifty air compressor/battery jumper boxes all in one unit.
*A basic tool kit.
*****For YOU if you could be stranded for a while:
*A gallon of water
*A few energy bars to munch on til help comes (Power bars, Clif bars etc.)
*A sweater and a pair of socks
*A cell phone to call for help.
* A basic first aid kit is always helpful
I hope this helps a lot of people. You can all pick and choose from this list and tailor it to your area/driving needs.
