disaster survival Survival percentage rates in a disaster?
I can remember reading an article once that broke the number of people in a disaster situation down into percentage chances of survival. It was something like 40% of people will panic and die because of this, whilst 20% will have a different reaction and then 10% will react another way as well? It's something like the 40/20/10 rule but I can't remember what the exact numbers were, I think I might have actually read it on Wikipedia originally. Any help at all appreciated
I'm not asking for this information under the belief its absolutely correct, or that it can be applied to every single disaster situation, I'm just curious to remember a half-forgotten fact. I heard it on some programme or other and it just happened that Wiki had an article on it, as far as I can recall.
It would depend upon the type of disaster and the number of people effected.
Being honest Wilipedia is not the best source of information.
1st aid kits How can we, women, carry around less stuff in our bags?
I need like a formula for us not to carry alot of stuff around..
in my bag for school- the notebooks for the day. maybe a textbook if I will stay to study.
small stapler, three post its (I dont use it..not yet..not always) wallet, water bottle, pencil pouch, keys, and its heavy! my notebooks are small too...mind you: I stop carrying make up and 1st aid kit.
which is why I dont carry makeup....
The stuff in your bag is not overkill. You have a completely acceptable amount of crap in your bag. Males also have to carry a notebook, text book, and school supplies. I had a friend who carried all manner of crazy stuff in her bag, like gum, breath mints, condoms, tampons, unopened chapstick, bandaids, hairspray, extra pantyhose, all kinds of weird sh*t, and it turned out that she did it in case anyone she knew ever needed something. What?? She's the nicest human who ever lived, to tote that heavy crap around just in case someone else needed it. Whenever I think about it now, I'm still blown away by her niceness. I am nowhere near that sweet.
