I want to make my first period run as smooth as possible - any ideas?
Hello! I haven't started menstruating yet, so I want to be prepared to make it run as smooth as possible. I have 2 older sisters and I have known about periods and all of that stuff since I was three when I asked how babies were made and my mother opened up to me! So basically, I know the theory! I have just heard so many scary stories and want to make my menarche a positive
experience. Maybe an emergency/survival kit would help? My Mother is asleep and my sisters live
with their friends or husbands so I need YOUR help!
Thanks!
PS
I am 12-if that helps! (IVF Baby!)
Okay, so here are some ways to tell your period is coming:
1. Back pains. Almost ALL girls get these before periods. First or not.
2. Cramps. Okay, so you always hear about the terrible stomach cramps of periods, and they are totally true. In your lower stomach, if your getting tight feelings, take that as a warning.
3. Bloat. When you feel full and bloated and you haven't eaten a heavy meal, watch out. It's coming!
4. Pain in the breasts. This is a HUGE sign, because your hormones are going out of whack and making your breasts not only grow, but swell and hurt like heck.
Here's some other signs:
1. You have discharge right? Well when that turns brown, that's blood. Put in at least a pantyliner, I recommend a pad though.
2. More discharge than usual.
3. If you constantly feel upset, cry for no reason, or get very angry at, well, the world and don't know why.
How can you make it go smoother?
Well, make sure the minute you see blood you have a pad in. Fashion it correctly to prevent bleeding and leaks. If your a front bleeder, middle bleeder, or back bleeder (I know I know, sounds gross...) put it in so you don't end up bleeding off the side. This is why I prefer tampons, because although I dont bleed a lot, I still end up bleeding over the pad and getting blood in my underwear. If you're like this, try to get used to tampons. They will be your best friend lol.
Now as far as dealing with cramps, backpains, etc? You gotta take a warm bath. If you're not a bath type girl, make your shower water a little hotter than normal. Also you MUST exercise. Do this before, during, and after your period for a little while. I mean, your supposed to exercise every day but when your on your period make sure you be consistent about it and make sure you walk a lot.
Hope it helps!
