Want to make weather and natural Disaster kit?
I want to make a homemade weather and natural disaster kit and don't know where to begin. Where i live we had evacuations for floods and propane leaks and we also have a few buzzards and power outages all in the last 10 months. So... I was wondering what to put in there and what you all have in your disaster kits. i could really use the help i looked everywhere and found a few but not helpful please write detailed lists and no ect. please. thank you very much.
We also have people with asthma and diabetics as well in out family
The site below has a checklist, which says:
Water, one gallon of water per person per day for at least three days, for drinking and sanitation
Food, at least a three-day supply of non-perishable food
Battery-powered or hand crank radio and a NOAA Weather Radio with tone alert and extra batteries for both
Flashlight and extra batteries
First aid kit
Whistle to signal for help
Dust mask, to help filter contaminated air and plastic sheeting and duct tape to shelter-in-place
Moist towelettes, garbage bags and plastic ties for personal sanitation
Wrench or pliers to turn off utilities
Can opener for food (if kit contains canned food)
Local maps
Cell phone with chargers, inverter or solar charger

It is a great idea to "prepare for disasters", unfortunately everything has become so darn expensive most people cant afford to. The most reasonable thing to do is to try and buy a couple extra non perishable items a week and just put it in a box in a closet.Check dates on items and use/replace as necessary. We should all try and be a little more responsible for ourselves/families…..take notes from Katrina
Hahahahahahahaha – I'm such a dumbass sometimes! I didn't connect “Millenium” the Blomkvist's rag with “Millenium Trilogy” — yeesh! I have the other 2 books downloaded but I haven't started them yet. I am guessing I'll start the 2nd one this weekend.
I do love One Second After. It does make you think – not just about how prepared you are but also the what if scenarios. For years Connor and I have engaged in discussions around what would we do if folks started turning into zombies. It was funny to read some of the things we've talked about in the book. I know, I know … zombies … I don't know what's wrong with us! =D
Shoot – updating the disaster kits given the winters we had a couple of years ago is smart. It's about time for me to be investing in the hand/body warmers I typically stock up on in the Fall. We used to primarily use these for Connor's football practices and games; however, they were super helpful during those bad winters. I think we stuck them in our shoes and under our gloves when our power was out for nearly 8 days year before last. Ah – memories! Time to work on my preparedness …
