Dog's tail bleeding bandage/put pressure on?
While I was cleaning up a mess on the floor I put my puppy outside. When I let him back in the tip of his tail was bleeding. My husband is going to have to leave work to take him to the vet (my toddler and I both have the stomach flu).
The vet recommended that I put pressure on the tail if possible, how would I do this? He cried when I cleaned it, I tried to bandage it but don't want to stick a bandaid on as with all that hair it might make things worse. He ripped off the gauze I taped on with the stuff from the first aid kit.
Please don't suggest I run to the store, I can't go out right now, and my 2 year old really can't.
Just apply steady preassure with gauze or a clean cloth until your husband gets home to get him to the vet. He may cry or struggle a bit but you need to get the bleeding to stop.
Just a word of warning be prepared for the potential that the tail will ultimately need to be amputated at least partially. Tail wounds are very difficult to get to heal properly due to the dog banging them into things etc. and may result in the tail having to be amputated to prevent infection.

First aid kits on minibuses in Egypt, eh, Noha? Maybe that idea will catch on in Cuba, on chartered catamarans.
When I was in Varadero and on the catamaran (probably the highlight of my visit because we got to go swimming with dolphins), I fell and cut my knee while getting back onboard after snorkelling. There was no first aid kit on board, but one of the crew members poured rum on the cut, to prevent infection.
Kind of a waste of good rum, but at least I still have the leg.
