Imagine two large rocks being pushed together. It rocks were slippery, they would slide up/down or side to side. The rock in the earth's crust, however isn't slippery. When two plates are being pushed together by movements in the magma below, pressure builds .... and builds.... and builds.... until finally BOOM. The rock moves with a sudden jerk.

Apparently a LOT of pressure had been building up along the fault (crack in the crust) in China and the pieces of the crust finally moved.

Strongest most recent earthquake in California??? help please!?


Does anyone know of the most strong and most recent earthquake in the U.S. (preferrably California) or if there is a legit website where I can see strong earthquakes that are pretty recent?

    well,if you can believe that great intellectual,danny glover,it was the result of the failure of the dog and pony show in denmark.
    so,i guess so.
