Disaster! Earthquake in Chile.Tsunami in Japan/Hawaii
How much money has been donated over all to the Haiti earthquake disaster?
Does anyone know roughly, or exactly, how much money has been donated? Including all sources, such as governments, donations, humanitarian efforts ect.
Sources would help.
To the first poster, that's actually the reason I want to know the amount.
I'm doing a thesis comparing the amount of money raised in the Haiti effort against that of the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake.
When this type of disaster happens to any Country, my heart goes out to the ordinary people who have to suffer. As regards any monies, and very large sums are given especially by the British, they never see any of it, as has been reported many times in the Press. The ones that have dealings with it get their cut out of it first, and by the time it is sorted the man on the ground get a pittance. They blame it on Administration Costs ( that is what I mean ) and they always do the same with any monies collected... that disgrace, and my patience runs high when I hear about this.Money is given freely, and so should the time and Administraton fees. These people suffer enough with their Families and everything should be done to spend that money where it is needed, and get going with it, on the terms that the time people spend on getting this money together, should be done with the Heart and not for monentary gain.

Given that Barbados experienced tremors from an Earthquake.
Given that there was minor damage to the Parliament building and structural damage to a house in St.George and Farley Hill house,
I strongly suggest that pressure be put on the Government to properly inspect all Government buildings and put in place an Earthquake disaster plan.
This time Barbados was shaken but not stirred.
We may not be so lucky all the time so we should be prepared.
