Can the world turn the Haiti earthquake into a positive thing?
I'm not trying to say that the Earthquake was a good thing. In fact, it was and will probably be the worst disaster this decade. I ask myself this though. can the world take this moment to come together and help eachother.
Forget race, religion, or any other difference. The one thing I see good coming out of the earthquake is that I see people helping eachother no matter what. Is this what it takes to make the world realize that one day we will be gone, and everytime we attack each other that day is getting nearer?
I agree with you but I also feel out of every bad thing goes something good. These poor Haiti
people have live in filth, have not had proper food to eat etc, this earthquake was terrible, but I think these people will live better than they have ever lived with all countries working to help them.I am so very sorry for all the injured, those that have lost their families it is tragic. It is our right as human beings to help our brothers and sisters, I feel that this is one of the reasons God put us on this earth.

West Java The 2009 West Java earthquake was a 7.0 magnitude earthquake that occurred on September 2, 2009 at 14:55 local time in West Java, Indonesia, which killed at least 79 people, injured over 1,250, and displaced over 210,000 (including more than 140,000 in Tasikmalaya regency).
The quake was felt in the capital Jakarta although damage there was minimal. Rescue efforts are underway to retrieve those trapped under landslides. It is Indonesia's deadliest earthquake since 2006 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2009_West_Java_earthquake Map of 2009 West Java earthquake http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:2009-September-Java-quake-shake-map-USGS.jpg ------------- A powerful earthquake has struck off the Indonesian island of Java, killing 44 people, officials say.
More than 300 have been injured and it is feared the death toll will rise as many homes have reportedly been buried by a landslide triggered by the quake.
More than 700 houses were badly damaged by the magnitude 7.0 quake, a social affairs ministry official told AP.
The quake struck around 1500 (0800 GMT). Its epicentre was offshore, 115km (70 miles) south-west of Tasikmalaya.
Medical teams have been dispatched to the city, where damaged properties included the mayor's home and a mosque.
The tremors were felt in the capital, Jakarta, 200km to the north, where hundreds fled into the streets from offices and shops.
A local tsunami alert was issued but revoked shortly afterwards.
Swaying and shaking
One badly hit area was the district of Cianjur, about 100km south of Jakarta, where a landslide has left 40 people missing, feared dead.
'The whole building was shaking'
Others were killed when buildings collapsed in Tasikmalaya and in the town of Sukabumi.
One villager near Tasikmalaya told Reuters news agency: "Many houses are flattened... Only the wooden houses remain standing. Many villagers are injured, covered in blood."
Priyadi Kardono, from the National Disaster Mitigation Agency, told Reuters the death toll could rise as communication with many more remote areas had not been re-established.
"Communications with the coastal areas were completely cut... No reports have come from those areas, although we assume those were the most affected ones."
Rescue teams in many areas of West Java were said to be clearing away rubble to try to find survivors, local media said.
In Jakarta, one eyewitness, who gave his name as Jonathan, told the BBC News website he was on the 28th floor of an office block when the quake struck.
"I went into the meeting room and took shelter under the table," he said. "It went on for about a minute I think - scary.
"It was like being in a boat on rough water, the building swaying from side to side. The do

1) The Earth and Sun cannot align with the centre of the Milky Way, because the angle is wrong.
2) Even if it did, it would have absolutely no effect, because the centre of the Milky Way is too far away to have any detectable gravitational effect on the Earth.
3) No one has ever suggested a _magnetic_ effect from such an alignment.
4) doesn't anybody take physics in high school any more?
