earthquake fault

is it safe to build a house within an earthquake fault zone?
No place on earth is without any risk. If you find 'no earthquake fault zone' there may be a risk for floods, or risk from cyclones, or dangers of the heavy rains, or tsunami waves of the sea, or fear from criminals, or shortage of water or eatables, etc., etc. You may have to compromise with any one BUT with adequate security and safety measures from the risks of the zone where you live.
So, go ahead with building a house in an earthquake zone without any hitch, but must provide structure which can face the highest intensity of the earthquake with sufficient open space and solid bunkers for safety as additional and alternative measures.

Doomsday earthquake destruction 2012 New madrid fault to split American continent
is there evidence to prove that a fault line earthquake will hit a major Australian city?
"Australia is not as geologically stable as many think. Despite popular belief, Australia is a geologically active continent with moving fault-lines, regular seismic activity, and a long history of mountain making."- Professor Malcolm Wallace from the School of Earth Sciences at the University of Melbourne.
There isn't real evidence that shows Australia will receive a large Earthquake but there is a possibility.

The Government of China has every right to be proud of the Three Gorges Dam. It is a tremendous engineering achievement and, I as a Structural Engineer, certainly hope to see it one day. The three gorges are three earthquake fault lines and hence the earthquake activity. The life of the dam will be dictated by seismic creep. Seismic creep is a constant and insideous element that is not considered when dams and bridges are built. Cracks have already appeared in the dam and as the water level rises other problems will appear. I hope that the Authorities have factored this eventuality in the design equation. I doubt it.
John, Let’s see some figures and confirmation for that statement, from a politically neutral, objective source. I find it very hard to believe that a fresman, little known Congressman from a largely rural, mountainous, small town northern California Congresssional District would hve received more votes than any other California member of the U S House of Representatives, including those covering the large population centers. I do not question your integrity, but your numbers, which I have noted to have often been a problem for you in your posts.Gail, excellent suggestion. I vote for a house on top of the earthquake fault.
I agree. Earthquakes are the result of tectonic activity, not some kind of impending apocalypse. It only seems like they are more frequent because of advances in global communication. And they seem more dangerous because basically the more stuff we have, the more gets damaged.
fucking bullshit
if you'd love everything as you say, isnt it true we would get to wrong way by accepting the wrong things ?
