Should the United Nations have a "Rapid Response" team for disasters like the earthquake in Haiti?

The immediate hourse following any disaster is critical to the victims. However, there is always a delay in aid because it takes time to organize the response. This delay costs lives. I'm thinking the U.N. should develope a "rapid response" team that is ready to move at a moment's notice. Supplies ready and people on standby.

How do you think this would work? Is there a reason it would not?

Maybe we should put the idea to our elected officials WORLDWIDE.

They have such a branch already. The link below goes into it in more detail. The issue with Haiti was that the airport was damaged and it was almost impossible to planes to land which was one of the reasons the delay in getting aid there occurred.

I hope you find the link of use.

Have you heard about the big earthquake that has devastated mexico? America is sending aid.?

California, The Earthquake Yesterday
A big earthquake with the strength of 8.1 on the Richter scale has hit Mexico. Two million Mexicans have died and over a million are injured. The country is totally ruined and the government doesn't know where to start with providing help to rebuild. The rest of the world is in shock.
Canada is sending troops to help the Mexican army control the riots. Saudi Arabia is sending oil. Other Latin American countries are sending supplies. The European community (except France) is sending food and money. The United States, not to be outdone, is sending two million replacement Mexicans. God Bless America!

hell , lets be generous and send them all back.............
