Damn.that was long.creative idea…I give you props, but you might want to consider adding some comedy into it,since you have so much drama…and add a dramatic love story, like make the middle age guy a woman with 4 kids and only 2 kids have the special genes and she's in love with another man,and wants him 2 come to the safe house, but she gotta decide if she gonna stay with all her kids and the man of her dreams, or leave 2 kids behind and her true love and go to the safe house.

Just and idea…you gotta attract a womans heart by the whole love story, cuz with the plot on its own,you have mens heart….think about it.
Good plot though.good luck, with finishing it up! =)

Yeah, growing up in Welly does make you kinda fatalistic about The Big One. Our teahers took us down to the Hutt River to observe the rocks etc in the bank. I remember thinking at the time that is was kind of odd to take 30 or 40 kids to stand on a known fault line and then tell them that the Big One was expected to strike and massacre the lot of them in the next 100 years.
My earthquake survival plan involves hiding under the Soviet Couch. Nothing will destroy that. It's practically made of concrete.

    Hi Lisa,

Along the same lines, this week futurist Jamias Cascio wrote about elements of resiliency in the face of the predictable and unpredictable. While he uses earthquake survival as a specific example, his ideas are generalizable, and overlap with your observations as well as with features of connectivism… and might even apply to learning in a connective world:-)

Get under a table it won't move a lot. Also going outside may seem like something you would do, but don't. Falling stones, bricks, or trees could land on you. Make sure your hands are over your neck though, this will protect your spinal cord from damage.
