Released today through NZ's main news site called stuff.co.nz is an article (4111313) that warns against following the theories shown in this and other videos by Doug Copp and the self proffessed Triangle of Life theory. Please feel free to find the site and make your own decisions – Doug, please feel free to get in touch again should you want to discuss this further, thanks, Stuart
Hey Sam. I loved the way you answered this post. At the same time, how could he have justified going into the wild outfitted in the all the modern survival gear of his day? Could he have done this and remained true to his vision? And what do you make of the opinion of many of your peers that Chris is nothing more than an idiot?
not living in an earthquake zone means that most apartment buildings are much taller, thus packing more and bigger apartments into the same spaceSouth Korea is an earthquake zone. Its earthquakes are less frequent and on average of considerably lower magnitude than neighboring Japan, whose earthquakes are also felt in South Korea, but it is nevertheless an earthquake zone. The biggest are usually in the 4- or 5-point range on the Richter scale.
Earthquakes are considered in construction, but like Kobe in 1995, I fear that if an unusually large earthquake (say 6.0 or higher) were to occur, some buildings would be rendered useless, even if they don't topple onto their residents (Korea's ubiquitous use of ferro-concrete construction bodes well for earthquake survival).
Not that any of this has to do with sociology, and your point about how it affects housing is apt.
Price gouging is price gouging no matter what. Just because it is during non-emergency times does not mean those prices are reasonable, acceptable, and not considered as gouging. Price gouging only becomes problematic during a crisis and that is when the law steps in. Otherwise, people will gladly spend their money at a more reasonable establishment.
@gakuranman and
These guys have earned themselves an excellent reputation throughout the crisis by providing non insane news to people in English and Japanese. Daily geiger counter readings, translations of press releases, etc.
The other thing to consider safety-wise is the amount of aftershocks Japan is having and will continue to have. You will need to read up on earthquake survival, learn how to be prepared, etc. No one knows whether this seismic activity is winding down from here on out or not.
This is getting rambling. Okay. If it were me? I'd still come here. You've been planning this forever, you made it past the application process, now it's time to do what you wanted to do.]]>
sounded so monotonous =/
