Will there be bigger earthquakes days before the sun aligns with the center of the galaxy?
Along with the gravitational influence from both Saturn and Jupiter; could there be pretty bad (like 7.0 and up on the Richter scale) earthquakes days or even months before 12/21/12? Doing some research for a fictional book of mine and I want to keep it as realistic as possible.

Also, please don't tell me that nothing is going to happen on 12/21/2012. I want more of the scientific views please.
Why shouldn't we tell you that nothing will happen on 12/21/2012? That's the plain scientific fact, so you might as well get used to it.
The Sun doesn't align with the centre of the galaxy. It appears to cross the Milky Way galaxy at a point over 5 degrees from its centre, as it does every year. Why don't we get earthquakes every December 21st?

Are the earthquakes in China a precursor to end of world events in 2012?
If you know of the significance of the year 2012 then you know where I am going with this. There has been strange weather, typhoons, hurricanes, tornadoes and earthquakes. Famine as always and war. Jupiter now has THREE red spots. There are more sun spots than ever. Do you think the most recent major earthquake in China and its after-shocks are a precursor, the first symptom, of the major earth-changing events predicted for 2012?

OOOHHHH, banks, don't get me started. I refuse to support them any longer. I know that there are a few good ones out there, but until the industry cleans up their greedy act I refuse to keep any kind of bank account at all.
Interesting facts you shared about Haiti. I was aware that the island nation was almost completely de-forested and eroded and I saw the same PBS program you mentioned. What made me most angry is the fact that it took 60 years for the USA to recognize Haiti because we did not wish to encourage the uppity folks of a different race and we had our own slave-economy to protect. Still, the US occupied Haiti for about 20 years until 1934 and we almost got them on their feet. Things went sour for them again after we left.
It is also sad that Haiti was forced to pay anything to the French. The bloody war of independence in Haiti was fought only after France went back on their pledge to free all slaves on the island.
California seems to be going the way of Haiti in some respects. When strict pollution legislation was enacted many businesses left the state for sootier pastures. There are so many home foreclosures in the state that it is impossible to know what the value of property is now. Now there are over 2 million acres of fertile farmland lying fallow in the Central Valley because we don't have enough water for irrigation. Our economy is based largely on unrestricted, foolish growth – some day the we will pay a huge price for all the greed and lack of effective planning.
Great question Titou. (((HEMP))) "California Dreamin" is a favorite of mine too. Like you, I feel that things are pretty whacky everywhere. I know folks living in rural areas who avoid cities like the plague.
i agree with not feeling sorry for the big investors…it won't really affect me all that much that i can see because i have never trusted the markets…i had some money in a few years back due to my brother being a trader and convincing me…then he told me an earthquake (even small) would never hit illinois…i took my money out and that was right before the big black tuesday…it seemed to be an omen that he thought so strongly on that one point and i didn't trust his other advice afterward…btw we have had earthquakes in illinois…
