What were the immediate effects of Haiti earthquake?

immediate effects of the earthquake and the aftershocks were that electricity lines snapped or simply stopped working due to the natural disaster along with phone lines which would also affect mobiles picking up signal therefore preventing any electronic communication. Water pipes burst consequently drowning out all clean water in Southern Haiti and due to the fact that many people were left homeless, Haitians have set up shelters (and have been sent shelter boxes as well) and created a small community.However, there is no water supply because of the earthquake and no sewage system either so diseases such as cholera and diarrhea are easily spread around the affected areas of the earthquake. Also, with dead bodies rotting in the hot sun the risk of these life threatening diseases has increased even more so.

What are a Earthquakes effects on the enviroment?
So I have been doing my Chemistry homework and I have come across a question that I cannot find the answers for anywhere (Straight answers anyway) So I was wondering, what are the effects of a earthquake on the environment?

Earthquakes usually mean deformation of the land. This could be uplift (from compression of rock), shear (from sideways motion of rock), or depression (extension of rock). The major effects are on rivers and road or track systems. They can also cause rock or mud slide in hilly or mountainous areas.
Under water in oceans or seas they can cause slumping of oozes and rock and and cause tsunamis. In lakes they can disturb sediment and cause hydrogen sulphide to escape killing people and animals in the local area.

Global Warming can, because the larger free surface water… changes the shape of the Earth, its overall spin rate, tidal heights, and the recession rate of the Moon.
Let's add documented increases in earthquakes as a result of:
- high pressure fracturing to get at natural gas
- construction of and level changes in dams (dams which are on rivers, rivers which are on tectonic fault lines)
- draining of underground pools of water and oil
