What are the effects of earthquake?

i wnt it in a detail

Rock...way to go with the google-copy-paste-thing

The shaking of earthquakes do the following:
* Undermine and destroy human construction (buildings, dams, etc.)
* Change the course of rivers (documented on the Mississippi)
* Create tsunami's

The effect of those 3 is to ruin cities and kill a lot of people. There are further disruptions to transportation grids, emergency response, utilities, etc. Fires, floods, starvation and general human suffering can result.

Places like California and Japan have more rigorous construction codes so are better prepared for earthquakes

What are the long/short-term effects of the Mexican Earthquake 1985?

I'm doing a project on this earthquake. I can't seem to find any long/short term effects of the Mexican Earthquake on the net though.

I would be fab if you have any suggestions ;)
Thanks alot.

Hard to believe you can't find anything. Just google keywords. Of course a long term effect would be they had to rebuild everything. I guess a short term effect would be thousands of people died that day. And that dumbSH## above is one big idiot.
