The economy is scaring me and I want to have an emergency food supply for my family
2 Cups rice uncooked = 4 cups rice cooked. Giving each person 1 cup of cooked rice. 6 Cups uncooked rice a day provides 3 meals of one cup of rice a day per person.
So for 1 year you would need 2,160 cups of rice.
540cups per person/per year of beans.

This was an interesting article, considering its conclusions. Mr. Panzer, I read your articles quite often, and you have been writing about the state of the economy for quite some time. I think a close look would show that anything associated with SURVIVAL is up in sales. Camping gear, firearms and ammo, food supplies, etc. Costco is even now offering emergency food supplies by the bucket. I think gun sales took off right before Obama got into office and have not languished since. Ammunition costs have come down some, but they are still high. There’s a lot going on in this country and I would believe that most are not sure as to where we’re going to land. So it doesn’t surprise me that these sales are doing well. Firearms offer provision for the family in more than one aspect. If you consider the falling dollar, the sky-rocketing commodities prices, the potential for a food crisis, a pending trade war with China, and the Fed wanting to stoke up QE2 is there really any wonder why Americans would look to taking care of themselves?
