We have no right to judge over when our fingers are not clean. We see dogs as pets(man's best friend as they say), but for them it is a nutritious meal.

The same way, people from India are appalled to see the obsession of the West with beef since cows are sacred and very docile, loving animals.

This was an interesting article, considering its conclusions. Mr. Panzer, I read your articles quite often, and you have been writing about the state of the economy for quite some time. I think a close look would show that anything associated with SURVIVAL is up in sales. Camping gear, firearms and ammo, food supplies, etc. Costco is even now offering emergency food supplies by the bucket. I think gun sales took off right before Obama got into office and have not languished since. Ammunition costs have come down some, but they are still high. There’s a lot going on in this country and I would believe that most are not sure as to where we’re going to land. So it doesn’t surprise me that these sales are doing well. Firearms offer provision for the family in more than one aspect. If you consider the falling dollar, the sky-rocketing commodities prices, the potential for a food crisis, a pending trade war with China, and the Fed wanting to stoke up QE2 is there really any wonder why Americans would look to taking care of themselves?

Sanitary products have a higher tax on them. Women used rags in the old old old days. For obvious reasons, women need those products otherwise their already awful situation will be made more uncomfortable. Lack of these products would result in stained underwear and clothing.

From reading these posts, it is apparent the feeling from the poster’s comments that they strongly support the cruise line and workers. However, while needing to support the crew, I saw not one word of criticism, questioning or demands for explanation of the fire that cause this tragedy. Granted, until a full investigation is done, full details will not be forthcoming, but in all honesty, with a ship costing millions if not billions of dollars, surely there could and should have been backup systems and some kind of emergency food supplies in case of this type of tragedy. Second, what kind of cruise line doesn’t have systems in place in case of a fire? Here, I speak of some kind of quick release water hoses and second, why didn’t the ship have a duplicate control system to take over in case of just this type of disaster? Without unnecessarily blaming the cruise line for unavoidable tragedy, still you cannot have a ship carrying this many passengers that is unprepared for just this type of thing, This easily could have been worse than the Titanic without the supreme efforts of the crew.
