   Shoot, I had an emergency survival kit long before it was cool, and will probably still have one long after they go out of style. You bring up an interesting point. Bin Laden, and everyone else for that matter, knows that the Democrats would buckle like belts before him. Fueling anti-war sentiment is a key part of his strategy. But I think he overestimates the appeal of the anti-war movement in this country. The media plays it up a lot more than many might think.Don't forget that a lot of people who are against the war are against the war in Iraq, not necessarily the war on terror. These are the folks who see them as two separate and distinct things. If you ask them what they think of Iraq, they'll say it's a mistake. But if you ask them about Osama bin Laden, they'll say “Kill that miserable SOB.”

   Price gouging is price gouging no matter what. Just because it is during non-emergency times does not mean those prices are reasonable, acceptable, and not considered as gouging. Price gouging only becomes problematic during a crisis and that is when the law steps in. Otherwise, people will gladly spend their money at a more reasonable establishment.

   I love the charm bracelet idea, it's so personal and it is something they can add onto over the years, and pass on to their daughters.

   I live in CO and my friends do this all the time ! Often they bring their fishing poles too though – but some have gone with nothing but a knife, some rope, water and a sleeping bag for 4-5 days. Ever see Into The Wild? Don't eat any foreign plants you're not sure of. Also, realize that if you get lost, injured or stranded and need rescue, you may have to foot the bill for the rescue mission. Some recent local rescues have verged $40,000 when helicopters are needed. I like camping with my air mattress lol.
