Best emergency What is the best reasonable amount of money to have in an emergency savings?
I plan on outlining things I need to do with my life. One of them is establishing emergency funding. A while ago, my uncle told me to do so, but I'm just now becoming capable of starting this. I am not in debt and I have good credit, if that matters. I just want to have back up funding just in case I need it.
You need to have 8 to 12 months of living expenses in you emergency account. Car, rent, food etc. I think this is great that you want to do this.Good luck to you.
What non-perishable foods are best to keep in case of an emergency?
I'm looking for foods that don't expire, or don't expire for a long time, and are already prepared and don't require cooking.
Thanks!

I'm talking about stuff I can buy at the store.
You can buy dehydrated foods from local camping stores. These don't require cooking and can be kept for a long time but they are a bit pricey.
I would probably go with things like canned baked beans, fruits and vegetables. You can also purchase tinned proteins like braised steak and onions etc (although these may not taste too nice without being heated) Most breakfast cereals also have long expiry dates. You could have powdered milk with the cereal or choose one that you wouldn't mind eating without milk.
Dried fruits and nuts also have a long expiry on them.
Hope these ideas help!
