hurricane survival kits Help with 8th grade Earth Science!-easy question just need help!!! Please?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
The question is... "List 10 things that you would pack in a hurricane survival kit. Or what would you do if you were in your house when it hit? Where would you go? What would you do?" Best answer gets 10 points! Respond fast!
go to a place with the least amount of windows, and 10 things would be:Clothes, a gallon of water per person for each day, batteries, flashlight, maybe a book for entertainment, a radio that runs on baterries (so u know whats goin on thru the news), shoes, blnkets, and thats all i could think of. =D
So long lasting in this case means "stays around not getting damaged" rather than "will burn for a long time"
The obvious answers are the old ones – you get wood strike anywhere kitchen matches and dip them in melted wax to waterproof them and then store them in a fairly water tight container for further safety. You get a box or more of either votive candles or tea candles which burn for hours and hours – the former require a shaped cup to hold them while the latter have their own metal cup. Then you get a metal container of oil – which can be lamp oil or cooking oil – and a cloth wick, so you can make a small torch if you need a larger flame. Cut up some wood for kindling and put it in zip lock bags
Planning on using black powder (which gets damp very easily) or similar explosives is rather pointless.
