What was the largest earthquake in Japan from 1900 to today ?

The Sanriku Earthquake of March 2, 1933 with Magnitude 8.4 is the largest earthquake to strike Japan.
but the most destructive was the kobe earthquake which lies in the southern part of Japan which caused billions of dollers worth of damage and destryed 80% of homes and industries which means the economy just dropped. it hapened at 5.46 in the morning which is why hundreds and thousands of people were killed as they were still asleep and the buildings and homes collapsed and caved in.

ARkStorm Scenario

What were the two largest earthquakes in the last two hundred years, and where were they?

I'm not talking about the the most devastating in terms of human loss, but magnitude.

9.5 in Chile in 1960 was the largest recorded earthquake in the world.
Sumatra 2004 was 9.3
9.2 in the Alaska in 1964.

A contender from 1811 is the New Madrid earthquake in the middle of the United States. However, there were no seismometers available then, so we can only guess about how big this one was. It was felt as far away as Boston, where church bells rang because of the quake. It also changed the course of the Mississippi River.

In a variety of ways. Sadly, none of them is linguistic, which is what this forum's all about. Try the literature forum instead.

If this is the new Jerusalem what happens to the old one. Well it just disappears in a rush of water from the mediterranean sea into the dead sea 1.200 feet below sea level. It shall be triggered by the largest earthquake the world has ever felt. The fault line start at the rift valley in Africa and ends up the jordan river valley. The only way to escape is to head for the high places. But Jerusalem will be gone and there will be nothing left to fight over. Peace finally.
