military survival kits

Does the U.S. military issue troops any sort of "survival kit" or similar kit?
If you could what is the name of the kit,ie like a MOLLE backpack
They give them to personnel that need them. They give ALSE (Aviation Life Support Equipment) vests full of survival goodies (water, knife, mirror, iodine tablets, etc) to air crew members (pilots and crew chiefs) who have the possibility of being isolated should they have to land/eject away from friendly forces.
They don't give them to your normal front line guys who have vehicles and ruck sacks full of all the stuff they need to survive on their own for days or weeks or whatever.
With combat the way it is now though you'll probably never use it. Even air crews that go down are recovered extremely quickly, then they come back for the aircraft later.

Military survival is about adaptation and about being integrated into the society you serve. The psychological screeners weed out thousands of these types at military induction centres.
