red cross emergency kits Emergency evacuation shelter for my dog?
I have been getting together an emergency kit for myself and my dog. (extra food, blankets, emergency supplies, etc). But I read somewhere online that if Red Cross has to set up an emergency shelter in a crisis, they will not allow dogs. How would I find out now where my dog and I could go in case of an emergency, so I don't have to wait until one happens? The online article said to try the vet or a friends house, but what if I cant get to those places? Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you.
I should probably specify that the type of emergency I am talking about would be something like an earthquake...so if hotels and vet offices, etc are not safe to enter, and a shelter is the only option, how would I know which one would take me with my dog?

if it was me i'd just take my cat with me, and if they shelter wouldn't let him in then i'd go somewhere else. but do not leave him at home.
