   My state has already implemented that. There are only basics, advanced and medics. No more intermediates. I moved here as an intermediate and because I have no ALS training, I'm now a basic (I maintained my certification in the state I moved from).

   It doesn't really effect me that much since due to back injuries and my age (almost 40), I no longer work in EMS (out in the field, anyway). However, I do think a national scope of practice is a good thing, since there will be no more confusion from state to state when it comes to the different levels.

   I think it will happen eventually. States will have to work with the NREMT to get this going across the country and I have a feeling that it is already in motion. We'll see what happens but I, for one, will be glad to see an end to all the differences. I still plan to go for my "advanced" level, even if I never work in the field again. The training is useful and has made a big difference in how I treat my patients in the hospital where I currently work.

   Airway Management has been added at all levels for your First Responder, EMT-Basic, EMT-Intermediate, and Paramedic recertification needs.
