Need help with birthday present ideas surrounding outdoor survival and primitive living skills interest!?
My friend is very interested in outdoor survival, primitive living skills, and urban preparedness. It is his birthday coming up and I am looking for ideas for a present surrounding this topic. Specifically, he loves Cody Lundin. He already has one of his books "When All Hell Brakes Loose". Any new book ideas or presents surrounding outdoor survival, primitive living skills, and urban preparedness would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

A gift certificate to a primitive skills course would blow his mind. There are many reputable schools out there. One in Maine runs intensive primitive skills courses and does gift certificates (www.primitiveskills.com), but there are also loads of them in the desert south west and the north east that might do the same.
That would be a very interesting category and a well needed category. There are a lot of different situations that could come into play and having a place for people to ask even the simplest questions on preparedness would be very beneficial. People feed off of other people's ideas. Things like how to get water from leaves or fire from ice would be very interesting survival skills. There are a lot of people that were in hurricane Katrina that had no survival skills except for learning to loot. In times of trial we don't need looters, rapists, and such people running ramped. We need people who can lead with the basic survival skills. A section would help give us those type people. For example… there is another way to produce energy from water and electricity and it's called HHO. That is a simple skill that could be used to make electricity, heat, and a cutting tool from spare parts. That could cover a very wide range of subjects.
Boy Scouts are by and large a good organization. There are the conservative values, and the military leanings and it probably needs to be updated some. But it also provides an outlet for a lot of kids to develop leadership, learn new and unique (if not particularly useful) skills, such as basic survival, preparedness, cooking, etc.
Please join and help build a community that helps each other to change our circumstances. Not just a political site, but learning true American History, to gain back our natioanl identity. Helping each other survive the coming economic calamity. The practical: Activism, Survival/Preparedness, and in the spiritual.
Burt Gummer is one of my all time hero’s and I can really relate to his survivalist mentality. I recommend that any one who is interested in learning about disaster and survival preparedness, read Holly Drennan Deyo’s book entitled “Dare To Prepare” it’s what Im using as a guide to get myself ready for the unforseeable future to come.
