What happened to survival of the fittest?

For thousands of years only the strong survived, that is why we have advanced as much as we have today, the weak were weeded out. Now we want to ration health care by giving it to everyone, we feed those who can't feed themselves, so they have even more kids. Successful people tend to have successful children and unsuccessful people tend to have unsuccessful children, aren't we just breeding an unsuccessful generation? It has already started?
So it now makes me heartless to say that if an able bodied person does not work they don't deserve luxuries like health care?

If you don't work starve. It is one thing to be out of work for a few months but lets face it there are people that have never held a job more than 6 months their whole lives and they are very common now days. Despite the recession I have seen 9 people quit just on my assembly line because they claim the work is too hard, sounds like unemployment was just too good.

Your question is complicated by your use of the term the fittest? Are we talking about the unfit being the sick and elderly or are we talking about the losers who call me a racist because I am not willing to give up on our liberties, freedoms, and our economic system so that they can get their government cheese? Answer, we take care of the sick and elderly to give them the best life we can for so long as they want to live and then we get the government back in the pen, addressing the very limited and intentionally so, job description. Do you know that some states have one health insurance provider? We can't say that the free market system doesn't work because some state level politician took a bribe.

Who else thinks Survivor is fake and stupid?

Think about it for a minute. Survivor always has these lame competitions and a "tribal council" to determine who the weakest contestant is and they are voted off. And to top it all off they probably have emergency crews just a few miles away from the tribes. Let's not forget that the whole thing is televised and focuses on someone who just might have developed a skin rash or a belly ache form eating the wrong food. This isn't a show about survival.

Here's my idea about a real show about survival:

Take two groups of office managers and drop them out in the middle of a frozen tundra or scorching desert. Once a week, drop just enough food for one group and lessen the rations each week. Hunger and desperation will truly test these contestants and they might actually compete for survival. What do you think?
Nobody seems to want to answer this question. Why?

Personally I like Survivor. It's not just about surviving the elements, it's about surviving the votes.

I don't think many people would sign up for your idea. Most people don't want to actually die.
